1. NPTEL

NPTEL or the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning is an initiative which is funded by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India and is coordinated by the major Indian Institutes of Technology that is Madras, Delhi, Bombay, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee Guwahati and along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003, with the aim to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs. The inception of the NPTEL was to create a portal for web and video courses in all major branches of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels and also for management courses at the Postgraduate levels. NPTEL offers Online Certification Courses, a 4, 8- or 12-week courses through an online portal on topics relevant for students in all years of Higher Education, alongside basic core courses in Science and Humanities with an exposure to relevant technologies and tools. Certification courses at the NPTEL are offered only twice a year i.e. during the months of January - June and July-December. Joining a course is absolutely free and it’s so convenient that anyone can learn from these courses from anywhere at any time. The enrollment process here involves no cost except for an in-person, supervised certification exam that is optional will be conducted at Rs. 1000 and a certificate will be provided through the participating institutions and industries. The major highlights of NPTEL is that it is the largest online repository in the world consisting of courses in Engineering, Basic Sciences, and selected Humanities and Social Sciences subjects. It’s online web portal http://nptel.ac.in has more than 471 million+ views. NPTEL’s YouTube channel is the most subscribed educational channel with a record of 1.5 million+ channel subscribers, 50000+ video hours and 819 million+ views. More than 54000+ hours of video content with transcribed subtitles are also available here. It is also the most accessed library of educational content in the world.

2. AICTE

AICTE or the All India Council for Technical Education was one of the earliest established statutory bodies. The All India Council for Technical Education was established in 1945 by the Government of India. The organization was set up as an Apex Advisory for the promotion and development of technical education by conducting surveys on the facilities of the technical education field in the country. AICTE is responsible for the proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education and management education system in India. The AICTE assigns graduate and postgraduate programs under specific categories at Indian institutions as per their allotment. The AICTE comes under the Department of Higher Education and the Ministry of Human Resource Development together. AICTE offers certified courses on 10 Board of Studies dealing with technician, vocational, country planning, architecture, town, undergraduate engineering, postgraduate engineering and research, pharmacy, management, applied arts and crafts, hotel management and catering technology. In this time of lockdown, to help the students and professionals with continuity of education through E-learning AICTE came forward with the idea of creating a free online training platform called ELIS, “Enhancement in Learning with Improvement In Skills.” And all these courses for now are free as several companies also came forward to provide online courses for free to learners. The ELIS portal has been designed by the All India Council for Technical Education in such a manner to offer all the courses from a single platform. The e-learning contents on the portal have been procured from 18 leading Ed-tech companies with 26 different courses For the time being some of the courses that are available for free as of now which is Machine Learning using Python, Big Data 101, Data Science for Beginners/ Python for Data Science, Data Analytics using R, Diploma in Machine Learning with R studio, IAAA: Certified Software Testing Professional – Functional Testing, LEAP: Learning Excellence And Progression, Programming Work Bench, and so on.

3. Kerala Blockchain Academy

Kerala Blockchain Academy (KBA), is a unique initiative from the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management – Kerala (IIITM-K) and the Global Blockchain Education Network (BEN) with an aim to explore deep into the potential of blockchain technology holding a mission of “Leveraging Blockchain for Public Good”. In fact, the KBA is the first of its kind Government Blockchain Academy in India. KBA is also the first Indian academy to become the Associate Member of Linux Hyperledger, an umbrella project of open source blockchains and related tools started by Linux Foundation in 2015. KBA is purely an initiative of the Government of Kerala. KBA explores deep into the cutting-edge technology “Blockchain”. KBA has been designed for individuals with little or no prior experience of Blockchain as well as for those who wish to train and transition from other careers. It extensively prepares the individual to explore the potential application domains as well as use-cases, introducing them to basic principles and operation, experimenting with Smart Contracts and Dapps (Decentralized Applications), along with materials from BEN’s world-class training courses and real-life, team exercises and practical simulations. This could be a perfect platform for the blockchain developers to explore the potential opportunities in the industry as well as governance. Moreover, in the coming future KBA can be perceived as a blockchain solution provider to a wide array of businesses. Since its foundation KBA has been offering Certification Programs, R&D activities and Consultancy, has even attracted International attention. The Kerala Blockchain Academy (KBA) offers various certification programmes on Blockchain like Certified Blockchain Business Professional (CBP) programme aimed at business professionals as well as Blockchain enthusiasts.

4.SAKSHAT

SAKSHAT is a Vocational Education program by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India which is a one stop education portal for 50 crore users. The programme was formally launched by the President A P J Abdul Kalam in 2006. Broadband connectivity is provided by the Commission of the programme to approximately five lakh college teachers of the central and state universities. The content links for SAKSHAT, educational views, sample papers, examination alerts and other useful links on the web are developed by the UGC, NCERT, CBSE, KVS, AICTE, IGNOU, NVS, IISc and the IITs. The portal functions through five modules, e-journals, e-books, digital repository and digital library. The programme also provides the links of various Olympiads. Here too like any other online portal, the students can interact with their teachers in real time and as well as through the medium of e-mail, webcasting, web blogging, through discussion forum and online chat. Nurturing the learning needs of more than 50 crore people through a proposed scheme of ‘National Mission in Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was the main vision of the project ‘SAKSHAT’. The scheme’s aim was to level the potential of ICT, by providing connectivity to all institutions of higher learning to the world of knowledge in the cyber space and to provide high quality knowledge modules with right e-contents and in turn address the personalized needs of learners and take care of their aspirations. The scheme also provides a certification of competencies of the human resources acquired through formal or non-formal means.

5. DHRUV

DHRUV which was an initiative of the Government of India for school children and it is called the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme. DHRUV is a 14-day learning programme which was launched on October 10, 2019 from the Indian Space Research Organization. The programme was also launched by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. The programme DHRUV is named after a star, the “DHRUV Tara”. The main aim of the programme was to encourage talented students to realize their full potential and henceforth, contribute it to the society. The programme covers two major areas which is Science and Arts and it was launched from the ISRO. The first batch of DHRUV consisted of 60 outstandingly talented students from classes 9 to 12 from all schools including Government and private schools.
